6 reasons why Wix, Squarespace and Wordpress are not good enough

Build Better: Why Fast and Cheap Might Not Cut It for Your Website

We get it. You have a business idea, and you want to build it fast and cheap. But as the saying goes, you can't have fast, cheap, and good all at the same time.

Many clients approach us with questions about building their websites on platforms like WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace. Instead of repeating ourselves, here’s a breakdown of why these solutions might not deliver what you truly need.

You Can’t Design Everything You Imagine

Platforms like Squarespace and Wix are "plug-and-play" solutions, but they don't allow you to create whatever you can dream up. Your creative vision is often limited by their templates and restricted customization options.

Your Site Isn’t Responsive Enough

Basic platforms often fail to deliver fully responsive designs. While they might let you design for desktop or mobile, they neglect tablet views.

This becomes an issue when users visit your site on smaller browser windows—like on laptops or desktops with minimized screens. Instead of seeing a perfectly optimized tablet layout, they’re stuck with either a squished desktop version or an awkwardly wide mobile view. A well-designed website should adapt seamlessly across all screen sizes.

Your Site Lacks Quality Animations

We’re in 2025, and websites don’t need clunky, slow-loading GIFs anymore. Lightweight, code-based animations like Lottie files are the new standard.

Basic web builders only offer rudimentary animation tools. In contrast, the websites we build provide advanced animation capabilities, allowing you to keyframe easing effects. This results in smooth, realistic movement that adheres to the laws of physics.

Linear Animations Look Awful

In real life, motion transitions naturally from one speed to another. Animations should mimic this by incorporating easing effects—never linear movement. Properly executed animations enhance user experience and give your site a polished, professional feel.

WordPress Is an Open Invitation for Malware

While WordPress was once the go-to platform for its customizability, it’s far from the best choice today. Here’s why:

  • Security Risks: Open-source systems like WordPress rely on third-party plugins, making them prone to malware, hacks, and spam.

  • Frequent Breakage: Updates to WordPress core or plugins can cause compatibility issues, breaking your site.

  • Hidden Threats: Some plugins may unknowingly inject malware into your site, flagging it as unsafe on Google and blocking visitors.

Instead, we recommend platforms like Framer or Webflow for their security, reliability, and modern design capabilities.

Web 1.0 Is Dead, Web 2.0 Is Aging, and Web 2.5 Is Here

Websites have evolved beyond Web 2.0, entering what we like to call Web 2.5.

  • Web 1.0: Static sites with basic photos, videos, and text. These are outdated and visually unappealing, resembling websites from over a decade ago.

  • Web 2.0: These sites are well-branded and functional but lack cutting-edge features. While they may look fine, they fail to impress with the latest browser technologies.

Web 2.5 bridges the gap — offering modern aesthetics, advanced animations, frosted-glass effects in CSS, and lightweight Lottie animations. These features add subtle, engaging details that help our clients’ websites stand out and remain future-proof.

The Takeaway

If you’re serious about building a website that’s more than just fast and cheap, it’s time to think bigger. A professional, modern site isn’t just an investment in design—it’s an investment in your brand’s future.

Let’s build something extraordinary.
